Kenya has one of the richest avifaunas in Africa with around 1090 bird species recorded. At least six of these are national endemics. Around 170 species of Kenya's birds species are Palearctic migrants (11 species of them with a local breeding population too), mainly from eastern Europe, Russia, the middle East and Siberia.

Another 60 species migrate regularly within the Afrotropics or from Madagascar. Lake Baringo, through Limuru tea farms, descending to the floor of the Great Rift Valley with a brief stop at the viewpoint. Mt. Longonot which is of volcanic origin and Lake Naivasha can be seen from far, this is one of the fresh waters lakes in the rift valley and a bird watchers paradise. It has over 460 recorded bird species and a number of hippos.
